One way to cope with being a black woman in predominately white spaces is to dissociate and escape to a place that feels safe. Often this is a mental space, which is filled with swirls of hope and light. Disassociation is the first piece in the Intersectionality series and depicts the mental escape. A portrait of Angela Davis sits in the center of the peace, as a Civil Rights Activist and educator it is not unlikely that she had to escape into herself to fight another day.
